The humankind has come a long way from the first type of military communication, which deployed runners to receive and send messages.  Eventually, ‘signals’ were developed, which were sometimes programmed to make the transmissions undecipherable.  An early instance of this communication method was the cursus publicus, a system the Romans utilized that involved a series of stations and forts spread along major thoroughfares.

In the 20th century, radio equipment had begun to be greatly used in military communications.  Equipment was designed to decode and encrypt transmissions and endure rough battlefields or environments, whether underwater, terrestrial, or aerial.  Additional frequencies were also used in sending signals to other satellites and radios.Image result for The Evolution and Advancement of Military Communications

In due course, the US military acknowledged the need to amalgamate automated computer equipment in transmitting bulky, large amounts of data.  Hence, they expanded the preceding models they deployed to C4I and formed a signal corps, which finally evolved into a distinctive occupation. With all the advancement it had undergone, military communications have developed from being used in warfare alone to sustaining intelligence-gathering and improving communications between adversaries, to prevent wars or conflicts.

And as technology continues to progress, so does military communications.  The surfacing of sophisticated communication tools, such as tablets, smart phones, and wireless networks, has contributed to the improvement in flexibility and efficiency of military communications. No other soldier in combat is feared as much as the sniper. He cannot be heard. He cannot be seen. What he does cannot be predicted. The sniper is instantaneous death. He has the skill, the discipline, and both figuratively and literally, the vision to take out scores of fighters. Of course, his weapon of choice is the sniper rifle.

Without any doubt, the sniper rifle is the most exact firearm ever created that is manually used. It is used in both police and military settings. Throughout the years, sniper rifles have evolved making them more effective through time. It had a twisted, long, hexagonal barrel with a scope fitted on top, therefore making it the sniper rifle prototype.

But it was not until World War I that soldiers underwent expert training to become more perfect. Telescopes were now mounted on their rifles that made them all the more fatal. Sniper rifles became much more accurate during World War II, and marksmen were lethal for up to 600 meters. The only disadvantage then was that due to abrasion, sniper rifles would become less and less accurate with every shot and required replacement and regular maintenance.

Today, manufacturers have managed to produce sniper rifles that maintain their precision and accuracy, with improved scopes and evolved barrels making targets observable and targetable at distances past a thousand meters.
