The domain of physical reasoning is a rapidly growing area of research within the cognitive psychology. Psychologists who investigate physical reasoning are interested in how people perceive physical objects and their movement, and in the cognitive process that allows people to make predictions about events involving these objects. Emerging evidence suggests the ability to reason effectively about the nature of physical objects depends on the fit between the information we gain through ourperception, and our knowledge of the fundamental properties of physical systems.

Among the most important of these properties is orientation, that is, how physical objects are aligned in three dimensional space. Reasoning is actually a tough work.In fact it is an activity which many people try to avoid. In some respects, though, reasoning is less difficult thananother cognitive task you perform, many times a day.Decision making is one of them. Throughout our waking hours, life presents as a continuous series of choices: what to wear, what to eat, whether to attend a class meeting etc.The list of everydaydecision is endless.

If you were a perfectly rational decision maker, you would have made each of these choices in a cool, almost mathematical manner, taking into consideration the utility or value to you of the outcomes each alternative might yield. And also the probability that these results would actually occur. As you know from your own life, though, the people do not usually reason in such a systematic way, instead they make decisions informally. On the basis of hunches, intuition and the information stored in our memories and the opinions of others, they come at conclusions. There are several factors to be considered which influence the decision making process making Atlas rational or effective than it might otherwise be.

Logical reasoning test examines a candidate’s ability to reason effectively and efficiently. A candidate who has strong reasoning skills, do not get confused when put in a stressful situation, and it is naturally expected to him to act consistently and persistently andreach at desirable conclusions. He is very likely to excel at structuring difficulties, facts and situations and, get to solutions quickly and easily. The understanding and general thought process of such a person is obviously expected to be stronger than the other candidates who score poorly on the test. Psychological tests which are designed to assess the expertise in logical thinking, examines the lateral thinking skilfulness of the candidate, whether he is able to find the solution to the problems. Logical reasoning and analytical reasoning are the key competencies which are measured with the help of logical reasoning assessment.

Decision making is basically the process of choosing among various courses of action or alternatives in our day to day life. Where cognition is concerned, human beings often follow the path of least resistance.Making decisions is hard work, so it is only reasonable enough to expect people to take shortcuts in performing this activity. Heuristics is a group of cognitive shortcuts, which lessens the effort required.
