Peter Loftin is an iconic figure who is known for his tremendous success in Business world as well as for his contribution to the society in making a noticeable change. He founded Business telecom Inc. in the year 1983 when he was only 25 years old and turned his company into a multimillion dollar organization in few years.

Eventually, it merged with Deltacom. His journey inspires the aspiring entrepreneurs but what is more encouraging is his association with various social activities. It makes him a man of substance.

Early life in BTI:

Business Telecom Inc. (BTI) was founded in Raleigh, North Carolina and started its operation. Peter Loftin got his first recognition when the company ranked seventh among other established local exchange carriers in the national market.  The rank was given by the New Paradigm Resources, a self-governing research group who acknowledged the skyrocketing growth of BTI within a few years.

Over the years, the company got a strong foothold across the US and was enlisted as one of the top fifteen organizations in the Telecommunication business. Its employee strength and number of clients were growing at a rapid speed. Needless to say, it was Peter Loftin’s dedication and diligence that bought him this grand success in this particular domain. The self-made man is also known for his down to earth nature.

Donation and charity:

Peter Loftin worked as a chairman of the board and eventually got involved in many social activities which made him even more popular in North Carolina.

In 1997, his organization donated $ 3.1million Performing Art Center in Raleigh. This time, Peter’s interest in Arts came into prominence as he donated such lump sum amount and took initiative to fund the program. Later it named after BTI and now it is known as BTI Center for the Performing Arts.

In the year 2000, Peter took a vital decision in his career that marked as a milestone. He sold a part of the organization to buy Casa Casuarina in Miami which earlier belonged to Gianni Versace. Peter Loftin modified the property and used it for various activities and events related to charity. Being a top businessman, his involvement in such noble activities is praiseworthy.

This man with many talents added one more feather to his cap when he was awarded as the ‘North Carolina Entrepreneur of the year’. This award was given by Business North Carolina Magazine.

In addition to that the North Carolina Electronics and Information Technologies association (NCEITA) presented him and BTI the ‘Corporate Citizen of the year Award’ for his remarkable attempt in proving free internet access to the students in rural area.

His contribution to the society was even recognized by the Governor of North Carolina. During his tenure in BTI, he not only took the company to the next level but simultaneously participated in various noble events.

Peter’s kind nature was observed when he donated winter coats to many needy kids when he was in his early 20s. He also opened a camp for boys and girls known as Camp BTI. Besides this, he is also aneminent member of Make-A-Wish Foundation that works for the poor and needy people.His association with various non-profit charitable organizations proved his generosity.
