The videos that you capture from your camcorder cannot be uploaded to your favorite video sharing site without compressing them first. Large video files will take a long time to upload and your internet may be disconnected in the midst of uploading thereby causing you to have to re-upload again. You will need to use a basic video editor like Movavi Video Converter to compress your video.

When you open the program, the first thing that you will see is a large open space that says drags your files here. As the description says, you need to use your mouse cursor to drag the video file from your desktop or other folders onto this area to load it in the program.

Movavi Video Converter also provided another way for you to load the video file through the Add Media option. The blue Add Media button can be seen on the top left corner. When you click on the Add Media button, you need to select the Add Video menu to bring up the open file dialog box. After selecting your video file from the open file dialog box, you must click on the open button to load it in the open space in the program. You can open multiple videos to have them compressed at the same time.

The next step is to select the Video tab below. Upon selecting the Video tab, you will see many different video formats options.  When you select on one of the video formats, a list will appear with many different video resolutions to choose from. Choosing a lower video resolution can help to compress the video to a smaller size. You will be able to see instantly how big the video output file will be. You can click around in the video format list until you find one that has produces the smallest output size for your video file.

You can adjust the size of the output video by selecting on the original file size. When the pop up appears, you can drag the file size slider to change size of the output video, for example, moving the slider to the left will reduce the video file size and moving the slider to the right will increase the video file size. The bigger the file size, the higher the quality of the video. If you want to know how your video will look after adjusting the file size, you can press the play button and play the video in the small preview area. You will then be able to see whether the video quality remains ok after you have reduced the video file size.

Before you start the video compression process, you should set the output folder where the compressed video will be saved. You can set a different destination folder for each of the video file that is opened in the program. To do this, you must first select the video file and then enter the path of the folder for the output compressed video in the Save to field. If you prefer not to type in the destination folder path, you can click on the folder button to bring up the file dialog box and select the destination folder. Finally, you can click on the Convert button to begin the video compression process.
